Digestive disorders

For a civilisation so renowned for its culinary delights, it’s inevitable that the Chinese would encounter historic examples of what we now refer to as indigestion, colic, constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and gas and the less common Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Crohn’s Disease.

Applying indigenous scientific principles based on their unique world view and countless generations’ worth of trial and error, the Chinese developed highly effective herbal remedies for digestive disorders such that these same medical principles and herbal formulas are practiced and prescribed to this day.

Chinese Herbal Medicine Platter

In fact, a study conducted by the University of Western Sydney (Bensoussan et al, 1998) and published in the Journal of American Medical Association, reported that out of the three groups comprising the 116 participants, those patients receiving individualised herbal medicine based on traditional Chinese medical theory reported the most effective and longest lasting improvement.

When powerful herbal formulations are coupled with moxa and acupuncture therapy, there’s little standing in the way between a patient and his or her restoration to good health.
